RESEARCH & PROJECTS

Shaping public health with data, models, and insight.

our
focus

At the International Centre for Applied Mathematical Modelling and Data Analytics (ICAMMDA), our research is driven by a shared purpose: to transform data and models into practical solutions that improve health outcomes and strengthen health systems across Africa.

We are at the forefront of using science for impact. By combining mathematical modelling, epidemiology, computer science, and advanced analytics, we tackle some of the region’s most urgent public health challenges — from infectious diseases like malaria, cholera, and Lassa fever to broader health system issues such as resource allocation and pandemic preparedness.

Our work is rooted in collaboration. We partner with governments, national disease control programs, universities, NGOs, and international agencies to ensure that our science meets real-world needs. These partnerships allow us to design models and tools that are not only scientifically rigorous but also practical, actionable, and locally relevant.

ICAMMDA’s approach is cross-disciplinary. We bring together experts in mathematics, biology, statistics, physics, epidemiology, and computer science to bridge the gap between theory and practice. This integrated approach enables us to support national programs with evidence-based strategies, guide policy decisions with reliable forecasts, and help save lives through smarter interventions.

Our vision is to build a future where African health decisions are powered by local data, local expertise, and homegrown innovation — creating lasting impact for generations to come.
